Terms
Terms of Service
Last updated 15 August 2026. Version 1.1.
These are the terms of using Sirat. They are an agreement between you and Sirat, the team that makes and operates the app from Pakistan, reachable at sirat.support@gmail.com.
We have kept them as short and as plain as we can. There are still a few paragraphs that read like a contract, because in those places being precise matters more than sounding friendly.
What Sirat is, and what it is not
Sirat is a habit and prayer companion. It works out prayer times, keeps track of the practices you choose, holds a streak, gives you a place to read and reflect, and lets you share a little of that with a few people you trust.
It is a tool, not a religious authority. Prayer times are calculated by an algorithm from your location and the method you selected. Qibla comes from your phone’s compass and can be thrown off by anything magnetic near it. Calendar dates depend on the convention you chose and on local moon sighting, which the app cannot do for you.
For anything that actually matters religiously, ask a qualified scholar or your local mosque. If our times disagree with your masjid, your masjid is right. Nothing in the app is a fatwa, and no feature should be treated as one.
Sirat is also not a medical or mental health service. If you are struggling, please talk to a professional.
Agreeing to these terms
By installing or using Sirat you agree to these terms, to the Privacy Policy, and to the Licence agreement that covers the software itself. If you do not agree, the honest answer is not to use the app.
If you are using Sirat for an organisation, you are confirming you have authority to accept these terms for it.
Your account
You can use most of Sirat without an account. If you want one:
- You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 in the EEA and the UK, or the minimum your country sets, whichever is highest.
- Give us an email address that works. It is how we reach you about your account, and how you get back in if you are locked out.
- Keep your credentials to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- One person per account. Do not share it and do not sell it.
- Tell us at sirat.support@gmail.com if you think somebody else has got in.
You can close your account whenever you want, from Settings or by emailing us. See Delete your account.
How you may and may not behave
Most of this comes down to one idea: Sirat is a place where people are trying to build something quietly and privately, and nothing you do should make that harder for anyone else.
Do not use Sirat to hurt people. No harassment, no bullying, no threats, no hate speech, no sexual content, no content involving minors, no incitement to violence, no doxxing, no impersonation.
Do not police anyone else’s faith. Circles exist for encouragement. Telling someone their practice is invalid, shaming them for a missed day, pushing sectarian attacks, or declaring anybody a disbeliever is not a warning offence. It gets you removed.
Do not break the law with it. No fraud, no money laundering, no sanctions evasion, no distribution of illegal material, no infringing anyone’s copyright.
Do not attack the service. No probing or breaking security controls, no getting into accounts that are not yours, no scraping, no automation or bots, no reverse engineering beyond what the law specifically permits you, no floods of traffic, no malware, no spoofing requests to look like the app.
Do not cheat the systems. Faking completions to inflate a streak or a leaderboard only fools you, but manipulating challenges, farming referrals, abusing trials, or bypassing payment is a breach of these terms.
Do not spam people. No unsolicited promotion in circles, no chain messages, no recruiting for anything.
Do not misrepresent Sirat. Do not claim you are us, and do not present the app’s output as religious authority. See the first section.
If you break these, we may remove content, limit features, suspend the account, or close it. Where we can, we will tell you what happened and why, and give you a way to reply. Where somebody’s safety is at stake, we act first and explain afterwards.
What you write, and who owns it
You own what you write. Journal entries, reflections, notes, custom habits, circle messages, everything. Creating an account does not hand any of it to us.
To actually run the app we need a narrow permission from you: a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to store, back up, encrypt, transmit and display your content to you, and to the circle members you deliberately share it with, for as long as you keep it with us. The licence exists so that syncing to your new phone is not a copyright problem. It ends when you delete the content or your account.
To be as clear as we can about the limits of that licence, we will not:
- read your journal, except in the rare case where a court order compels it,
- use your content to train any machine learning model, ours or anybody else’s,
- sell, licence or hand your content to a third party,
- publish it, quote it in marketing, or show it to anyone you did not share it with,
- use it to build an advertising profile, because we do not do advertising at all.
If we ever want to quote something you wrote, we will ask you first and take no for an answer.
You are responsible for what you post. Do not post things you do not have the right to post. If you send us feedback or a feature idea, we may act on it freely and without owing you anything, which is the normal arrangement for suggestions.
Circles, reporting and moderation
Circles are small, private, invite only groups. They are not public, not searchable, and not indexed anywhere.
- Report anything. Every message and every member can be reported in the app or by emailing sirat.support@gmail.com. We aim to review reports within 72 hours.
- Block without waiting. You can block a member immediately, yourself, for any reason or none.
- What we can do. Remove content, remove a member from a circle, suspend an account, close an account, or delete a whole circle if it exists to cause harm.
- Appeals. If we act against you, we will tell you what rule was involved. Reply within 30 days and a person, not a script, will look at it again.
- Leaving. Leave any circle at any time. Your name and activity go with you. If you created it and other people are still in it, ownership passes to the longest standing remaining member.
Circles require a verified email address. That is on purpose: it makes throwaway accounts more effort than they are worth.
Our intellectual property
Sirat, the name, the logo, the interface, the design system, the code, the copy and the artwork belong to Sirat and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. The Licence agreement covers what you may do with the software.
Some things in the app are not ours and are worth naming:
- The Qur’an. The Arabic text is the word of Allah and belongs to no one. The English translation shipped in the reader and the widgets is The Meaning of the Glorious Koran by Marmaduke Pickthall (1930, public domain), fetched at read time from the Al Quran Cloud API (edition en.pickthall) alongside the Uthmani Arabic script. The short renderings of meaning in the home-screen verse widget are Sirat's own and are labelled as such, used under its own licence, and its terms apply to that text.
- Hadith and du’a. Traditional Islamic texts, with sources named in the app so you can check them.
- Open source. The app is built on open source components. Their licences and notices are listed in Settings, then About, then Open source.
- Fonts. Archivo, Amiri and Reem Kufi, each under its own open font licence.
If you think something in Sirat infringes your copyright, write to sirat.support@gmail.com with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears, and we will look into it and remove it if you are right.
Plus, payments and refunds
The core of Sirat is free and stays free. Prayer times, tracking, streaks, mercy, the Qur’an reader and reminders are not behind a paywall and will not be moved behind one.
Plus adds deeper insights, learned reminder timing, extra challenges and companion features. Current pricing:
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Monthly | US$4.99 |
| Annual | US$29.99, with a 7 day free trial |
| Lifetime | US$79.99, one payment |
Prices are in US dollars unless your store shows otherwise, and your store converts and adds tax.
Billing is done by Apple or Google, not by us. They take the payment, they hold your card details, and they run the subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Cancelling. On iPhone or iPad, Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android, Play Store, profile, Payments and subscriptions. If you are in a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends or it converts to a paid subscription.
Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its policy, not by us. If the store turns you down and you think the outcome is unfair, write to sirat.support@gmail.com and we will do what we can, though we cannot reverse a store’s decision.
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. By starting to use digital content immediately you may lose that right, and the store will tell you so at the moment of purchase. Your statutory rights are not affected by anything in this section.
Price changes. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice before any price rise, and you can cancel before it applies.
Sadaqah. Where the app offers a charitable contribution, we will tell you plainly who receives it and what proportion, before you give anything.
Changes to the app
We are still building Sirat, so features will be added, changed and occasionally taken away.
If we remove or materially reduce something you are paying for, we will tell you at least 30 days ahead and, if you are worse off, offer a pro rata refund of the unused part of your subscription. Free features can change with reasonable notice.
We may also update these terms. Small corrections take effect when posted. Anything material gets 30 days’ notice in the app and by email, and if you do not like the change you can stop using Sirat and ask for a refund of any unused subscription.
Things we cannot promise
We work hard on Sirat, but we have to be honest about the limits.
To the extent the law allows, Sirat is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement.
Specifically, we do not promise that:
- prayer times, qibla or calendar dates are exact for your location and school of thought,
- the app will always be available, or free of bugs,
- notifications will always arrive, since your operating system decides that and can hold or drop them,
- your data can be recovered if you have never signed in, because in that case we do not have it,
- any religious content is complete or correctly interpreted for your situation.
Nothing in this section removes rights you have as a consumer where those rights cannot be excluded by contract. In the EU that includes Directive 2019/770. In the UK that includes the Consumer Rights Act 2015. In Australia that includes the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded, and where they apply our liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of doing so.
Where our liability ends
To the extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or missed worship.
- Our total liability to you, for everything combined, is limited to whichever is greater: what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.
We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
If you are a consumer, these limits apply only as far as your local law permits, and your statutory rights stand.
If we ever stop
If Sirat is ever discontinued, we will:
- tell you at least 60 days beforehand,
- keep the export tool working for the whole of that period,
- refund the unused part of any subscription, and
- delete server side data after a reasonable grace period.
We are writing this down now so it is a commitment rather than a hope.
Security researchers
If you find a vulnerability, tell us at sirat.support@gmail.com. We will not pursue legal action against anyone who acts in good faith: reports promptly, does not access or alter other people’s data beyond what is needed to demonstrate the issue, does not disrupt the service, and gives us a reasonable window to fix it before going public.
Good faith research is not a breach of the “do not attack the service” rules above.
Suspending or closing your account
You can close your account at any time from Settings or by emailing us.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm someone, where we are legally required to, or where an account has been dormant for 24 months, in which case we email you first.
If we close your account we will, where we lawfully can, tell you why and give you a chance to export your data. If we close it and you have done nothing wrong, we will refund the unused part of your subscription.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes go to the courts of Pakistan.
Two important carve outs:
If you are a consumer, none of this takes away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can always bring a claim in your local courts if your law says so.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you keep every right you have under EU and UK consumer law regardless of the paragraph above. EU consumers can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.
Sorting out disagreements
Talk to us first. Email sirat.support@gmail.com and describe the problem. Most things end here. Please give us 30 days to put it right before starting anything formal.
Then the courts, if it comes to that. There is no arbitration clause in these terms and no class action waiver, deliberately. We are not going to make you hire an arbitrator over a subscription, and we are not going to sign away a right you have where you live. If talking does not work, the Governing law section above says where a claim is heard, and the two carve outs in it still apply.
Time limit. Any claim must be brought within one year of when you first knew, or reasonably should have known, about it, unless your local law gives you longer, in which case that longer period applies.
The small print
These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Sirat, together with the Privacy Policy and the Licence agreement. If the three ever disagree about the software licence specifically, the Licence agreement wins.
If one part fails, a court can strike out that part and the rest stays in force.
Not enforcing something once does not mean we have given it up.
You cannot transfer your rights under these terms. We can transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganisation, and we will tell you if that happens.
How we contact you: by email to the address on your account, or in the app. How you contact us: the addresses below.
Neither of us is liable for failures caused by things genuinely outside our control, such as a natural disaster, a war, a national internet outage, or a platform we depend on going down.
No partnership. Using Sirat does not make you our agent, partner or employee.
